TechWeirdoTools

The short version

Most tools run entirely in your browser and never upload what you type. Network tools send the request you start through our edge. Analytics is cookie-free and aggregate. We don’t sell data or show ads.

Analytics

We use a self-hosted instance of Plausible Analytics to understand aggregate traffic: page views, referrers, countries and device types. It sets no cookies, doesn’t build personal profiles and doesn’t track you across sites. The QR tool records an anonymous “download” event with the file format, size and content type chosen (for example “URL” or “Wi-Fi”) — never the QR content itself. You can block the script with any content blocker and every tool keeps working.

Tools that run only in your browser

These tools process everything locally with JavaScript, Web Crypto and WebAssembly. What you enter is not sent to TechWeirdo Tools or anyone else:

  • Hash Generator, Bcrypt Generator, JWT Decoder, Password Generator, UUID Generator and Random Hex Generator
  • JSON Formatter, Base64 Encoder/Decoder, URL Encoder/Decoder and Timestamp Converter
  • Table Generator, QR Code Generator (including uploaded logos) and Code Playground

Their code, fonts, icons and libraries (hash-wasm, qr-code-styling, bcrypt.js, the EFF wordlist) are served from this site — no third-party CDN is contacted when you use them.

Network tools (HTTP Request, DNS Lookup, Port & TLS)

When you run a request or lookup, your browser sends the details you entered — URL, method, headers, cookies, body, domain, host or ports — to our edge endpoints on Bunny (curlapi, dnsapi and portapi on minionshq.com). The edge performs the request from the region you chose and returns the result. We don’t keep an account database or a history of your requests. As with any proxy, don’t send credentials you’re not comfortable transmitting; prefer short-lived test tokens.

What’s My IP

To show your public addresses, your browser contacts ipv4.icanhazip.com and ipv6.icanhazip.com. For location and network details it queries ipapi.co, falling back to ipwho.is, and the map is an OpenStreetMap embed. Each provider receives the IP being looked up and processes it under its own policy.

Code Playground libraries

The playground only loads external scripts or stylesheets that you add under Libraries (for example from jsDelivr or unpkg). Those files are fetched by the sandboxed preview, so the CDN you choose sees a normal request from your browser.

Cookies and local storage

We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser’s localStorage may hold:

  • mhq-theme — your light/dark preference
  • mhq-editor-draft-v3 and mhq-editor-library-v3 — Code Playground drafts and saved projects

This data stays on your device. Clear it at any time through your browser settings or the playground’s Clear draft button.

Hosting and logs

Like any website, our hosting and edge providers may keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP address, user agent and requested URL) for security and abuse prevention. We don’t combine them with other data or use them for advertising.

Changes

If the way data is handled changes, this page will be updated and the date above revised.
