How to create a custom QR code
Choose what it does
Pick URL, text, Wi-Fi, email, phone or SMS and fill in the details. The preview updates instantly.
Style it
Start from a preset, then adjust colours, gradient, module pattern and finder eyes. Add your logo in the centre — error correction switches to High automatically.
Check and download
Watch the scan-safety indicator, then download SVG for print or PNG/WebP up to 2048 × 2048 for screens. Test the final size on a couple of phones.
Make QR codes that scan reliably
- Keep strong contrast. Dark modules on a light background work best. Aim for at least 4.5:1; inverted (light on dark) codes fail on some scanners.
- Leave a quiet zone. The empty border around the code helps cameras find it. Don’t crop it when placing the code in a design.
- Size for the distance. A good rule is 1 cm of code width per 10 cm of scanning distance; at least 2 × 2 cm for print.
- Use high error correction with a logo. Level H can recover up to 30% of damaged or covered modules.
- Shorter content, simpler code. Long URLs create dense codes. Use a short link if the code must be small.
Static vs dynamic QR codes
These are static QR codes: the content is encoded directly in the image, so they work forever and don’t depend on any service. Dynamic QR codes point to a redirect you can change later, but they stop working if that service shuts down or you stop paying.
Wi-Fi QR code format
Wi-Fi codes use the format WIFI:T:WPA;S:network;P:password;H:false;;. iOS and Android cameras recognise it and offer to join the network — perfect for guests, cafés and offices.
Frequently asked questions
Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes. Create and download unlimited QR codes without an account, payment, expiry date or watermark.
Do these QR codes expire?
No. They are static codes with the content encoded directly in the image, so they keep working as long as the destination (for example, your website) exists.
Which file format is best for printing?
SVG — it’s a vector format that stays sharp at any size, from business cards to billboards. Use PNG or WebP for websites, documents and social media.
Can I add my logo to a QR code?
Yes. Open Logo & scan reliability and choose an image. Keep the logo at or below about 30% of the width and use High error correction so the code still scans.
How do I make a QR code for Wi-Fi?
Choose the Wi-Fi tab, enter the network name and password, and select the security type. Guests can scan it with their phone camera to join without typing the password.
Is my data private?
Yes. The QR code is generated in your browser. Your URL, Wi-Fi password and logo are never uploaded to a server.
